Chinese Premier Li Qiang renewed his call for deeper cooperation and greater mutual opening among global markets, urging countries to resist turning economic issues into political disputes. His remarks came on Tuesday during the annual 1+10 Dialogue in Beijing, where he met with leaders of major international economic institutions including New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff, World Bank President Ajay Banga and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Li said the world economy in 2025 has been shaped by persistent uncertainty, uneven recovery and fluctuating growth patterns. These pressures, he noted, highlight the urgent need to reform global economic governance so international rules better reflect the interests and realities of both developed and developing economies. According to Li, maintaining openness is essential to stabilizing markets and reinforcing confidence at a time when protectionist measures are rising in many parts of the world.

He emphasized that cooperation is not only a strategic choice but also an economic necessity. In his view, open markets allow countries to expand growth potential, improve the flow of goods and technology, and protect supply chains from disruption. He said innovation will be a key driver of future global expansion and called on countries to work together in research, digital industries and emerging technologies so new growth engines can form across regions.

Li also reiterated China’s long term commitment to opening its economy further. He noted that foreign investment continues to play a vital role in China’s development and assured participants that China welcomes more global enterprises seeking to expand in its market. He said China aims to build a fairer and more predictable business environment and will continue to improve policy measures that support international cooperation.

The premier added that China intends to take on responsibilities that match its economic weight and will continue providing public goods through multilateral platforms. This includes active participation in global initiatives focused on poverty reduction, financial stability, climate cooperation and sustainable growth.

Leaders of the attending organizations highlighted what they described as China’s steady economic performance over the past year, noting its contribution to global output at a time when many regions faced slowed expansion. They said China’s upcoming 15th Five Year Plan closely aligns with global priorities such as green growth, modernization of industries and digital transformation. According to them, this alignment will help reinforce confidence in international markets.

They also commended China’s support for multilateralism and its long standing engagement with developing countries. Representatives from the organizations said they hope to deepen cooperation with China in areas including trade, investment, clean energy, artificial intelligence, employment generation and financial security. All sides agreed that stronger collaboration will be essential to maintaining an open global trading system and fostering shared economic progress.
