The exhibition forms part of a wider series of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi inaugurated the exhibition and highlighted the enduring nature of bilateral ties rooted in mutual respect and cultural exchange. He noted that anniversary year commemorations were launched earlier this month in Beijing with the unveiling of a commemorative logo by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar alongside Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Hong Kong exhibition adds a cultural dimension to the anniversary celebrations, complementing diplomatic economic and strategic engagement between the two countries while reinforcing soft power outreach through heritage and art.
Ambassador Hashmi said the collages explore a wide range of themes including Pakistan’s ancient roots freedom movement geography historic monuments religious architecture arts sciences sports languages and cultural diversity. He also pointed to areas of cultural convergence between Pakistan and China, including shared heritage such as Gandhara art, which reflects centuries of historical interaction along ancient trade and cultural routes. The exhibition underscores the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual appreciation among diverse audiences. By presenting Pakistan’s cultural narrative in a visual and accessible format, the exhibition seeks to build lasting cultural bridges and promote greater understanding between Pakistani and Chinese societies.
