China delivered a commanding performance at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu on Monday, sweeping Egypt 8 0 and reinforcing their status as the tournament favorites. The hosts controlled every stage of the contest, putting on a confident display in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

The opening mixed doubles match set the tone for the one-sided encounter. Kuai Man and Lin Shidong combined effectively, defeating their Egyptian opponents 11 3, 11 3, and 11 7. Their strong start gave China an early boost and signaled that the team intended to keep the pressure high throughout the session.

World No. 1 Sun Yingsha followed in the women’s singles match with a composed performance. She overcame her opponent 11 4, 14 12, and 11 4, showcasing her consistency and technical precision. Her win extended China’s lead and left Egypt with little room to build momentum. Wang Chuqin then stepped in for the men’s singles match and secured another straight game victory, defeating Youssef Abdelaziz 11 5 and 11 4. His fast-paced, controlled play sealed the sweep for the hosts.

While China’s match progressed smoothly, other contests offered far more tension, particularly the meeting between the Republic of Korea and Chinese Taipei. The mixed doubles team of Lin Yun-ju and Cheng I-ching opened strongly for Chinese Taipei, securing a close victory of 12 10, 11 9, and 11 9. The early win provided them with a promising start, but the match shifted quickly.

The Republic of Korea responded with determination, taking the women’s singles, men’s singles and women’s doubles matches to level the overall score at 6 6. Each of these games was tightly contested, keeping both teams on edge and raising the stakes as the contest moved toward its final event.

Everything came down to the deciding men’s doubles match. Park Gang hyeon and Oh Jun sung delivered under pressure, defeating Lin and Kao Cheng jui 11 9 and 11 9. Their success secured an 8 6 win for the Republic of Korea in what became one of the day’s most dramatic battles.

Elsewhere, Germany recorded an 8 4 triumph over France in a solid display marked by consistent performances across the lineup. Hong Kong SAR also produced a dominant showing, overcoming Chile 8 2. Japan wrapped up the day with a confident 8 4 win against India, relying on steady teamwork to close out key matches.

The results highlight the competitive depth of the Mixed Team World Cup, with China continuing to set the pace at the top while other teams battle intensely behind them. As the tournament continues in Chengdu, attention will remain on both China’s dominant form and the closely matched contests unfolding among the other leading teams.
