A three member delegation from Tianjin Chuanhui Group arrived in Islamabad to meet officials at Pakistan’s Board of Investment and discuss new avenues for industrial collaboration. Their visit reflects a growing interest among Chinese companies in Pakistan’s expanding electric vehicle and manufacturing sectors. The meeting followed the momentum created at the Pak China B2B Investment Conference held in Beijing earlier this year, where the two sides signed an MoU aimed at deepening bilateral industrial cooperation. The delegation’s visit marks the beginning of more concrete steps toward implementing that agreement.

Advancing Plans Formed During the Beijing Conference

According to the Board of Investment, this visit is part of the implementation phase of commitments made at the Prime Minister led conference in Beijing in September 2025. During that event, discussions focused heavily on accelerating investment under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and encouraging Chinese companies to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones. The arrival of the Tianjin Chuanhui Group delegation is a continuation of that dialogue. An orientation meeting was held with the Board of Investment and officials from relevant ministries to ensure all procedural requirements for future investments are addressed efficiently.

Exploring EV Potential in Pakistan’s Industrial Landscape

One of the delegation’s strongest areas of interest was Pakistan’s emerging electric vehicle sector. With demand for low cost and environmentally friendly transport solutions rising across the country, the visitors expressed enthusiasm for establishing production capacity for two and three wheeler electric vehicles. They also explored the possibility of developing charging infrastructure, supporting EV use in agriculture and promoting broader green mobility initiatives. The group noted that Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones offer a promising platform for setting up an assembly line capable of supporting mass production in the near future.

Supportive Environment for New Industrial Cooperation

Officials from the Board of Investment provided a detailed briefing on the opportunities available to international investors in Pakistan. They highlighted SEZ incentives, facilitation measures and the government’s commitment to improving the business environment. The Board emphasized that Pakistan is ready to welcome new partnerships that can strengthen industrial capacity and reduce dependence on imported vehicles. Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, who oversees the Board’s operations, reiterated that the government remains fully committed to supporting foreign investors and enabling smooth collaboration between public and private sectors. His leadership has focused on promoting industrial growth and enhancing Pakistan’s integration with global markets, particularly with China.

A New Step Forward in CPEC Industrial Cooperation

The visit by Tianjin Chuanhui Group is seen as part of the broader Industrial Cooperation Phase of CPEC. This phase aims to move beyond infrastructure and energy projects and focus more on manufacturing, technology transfer and job creation within Pakistan. Engagements such as this help build momentum toward more sustainable economic development and signal a shift toward long term industrial partnerships that benefit both countries. For Pakistan, the development of local EV production capabilities represents a chance to modernize its transport sector and contribute to global climate goals. For Chinese companies, it offers access to a growing market and an opportunity to expand their footprints within South Asia.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing a willingness to continue dialogue and pursue joint ventures in the coming months. The Board of Investment reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating future steps and strengthening B2B connections. As Pakistan looks to attract new investment and diversify its industrial base, visits like this demonstrate the ongoing importance of China Pakistan cooperation and its potential to shape the country’s economic future.
