China took another step forward in its space program with the successful launch of two experimental satellites from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in the southern island province of Hainan. The launch took place early Wednesday morning at 6:40 a.m., when a modified Long March 7 rocket lifted off carrying the Shijian 29A and Shijian 29B satellites into their designated orbit.
