JINAN, China – Shandong University has inaugurated a Pakistan Study Centre to strengthen academic and research collaboration between China and Pakistan. The initiative reflects the growing scope of bilateral engagement beyond trade and strategic partnerships, emphasizing education, knowledge exchange, and people-to-people connectivity.

The centre will serve as a platform for collaborative research projects, student exchanges, and policy dialogues, with a special focus on agriculture and fisheries, sectors vital to both nations. By providing Pakistani students with international exposure, the initiative also supports China’s universities in expanding their research capabilities and global engagement.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi of Pakistan lauded Shandong University for its support, highlighting the centre’s role in fostering long-term academic partnerships and sustainable cooperation. University leadership and faculty members have pledged full backing for the initiative, which is expected to become a hub for innovation, knowledge sharing, and educational collaboration.

Officials noted that the Pakistan Study Centre complements ongoing bilateral initiatives, including training programs under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and joint research in scientific and technological fields. The establishment of the centre underscores the importance both nations place on education and research as pillars of the China-Pakistan partnership.

With its focus on capacity-building, cross-cultural understanding, and practical research outcomes, the centre is poised to further deepen institutional ties and strengthen the long-term relationship between Pakistan and China.
