A Shenzhen-based robotics start-up known for its humanoid robot technology has secured new financing from an investment fund supported by China Mobile, marking another sign of strong interest in China’s rapidly growing robotics sector. The company, Daimon Robotics Technology, announced on Wednesday that the Lianchang Fund had invested in the firm as part of its latest funding round. The fund is backed by China’s largest mobile network operator and supports companies working in advanced technology fields.

Daimon Robotics was co-founded by Wang Yu, who serves as the dean of the robotics institute at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with his former student Duan Jianghua. The company said this newest investment marks its fourth round of funding, reflecting increasing confidence from both state-linked and private investors in the potential of humanoid robotics. Although Daimon did not disclose the amount of the recent investment, it highlighted that it has already raised several hundred million yuan from a range of Chinese venture capital firms.

The start-up has attracted investment from major players, including Lenovo Capital, Jinding Capital, and Incubator Group, the investment branch of China Merchants Group. These investors are among the most active supporters of China’s robotics and artificial intelligence industries, and their involvement signals the scale of opportunity they see in Daimon’s technology. The backing from China Mobile adds another layer of credibility because it aligns with the broader national push to integrate artificial intelligence with next-generation communication networks.

Daimon has gained recognition for the agility and precision of its humanoid robots, which are designed to perform complex tasks in both industrial and service oriented environments. The company’s research draws heavily from academic innovation, given Wang Yu’s background as a leading robotics scholar and his team’s continued partnership with HKUST. This combination of academic expertise and commercial ambition has allowed the company to stand out in a competitive market filled with emerging robotics innovators.

China has identified robotics as a strategic focus area, seeing it as essential to accelerating industrial upgrading and expanding automation across manufacturing. Several provinces and major corporations have launched large scale initiatives to support robotics development, and Daimon’s latest funding shows how capital continues to flow into companies that demonstrate strong technical capabilities. The involvement of China Mobile also reflects the telecom giant’s growing interest in integrating robotics with its artificial intelligence and cloud computing infrastructure.

Industry analysts say that increased investment in humanoid robotics indicates a shift toward more advanced forms of automation. As China faces continued demographic pressure and rising labor costs, companies capable of delivering intelligent robotic solutions are expected to play a major role in future economic growth. With strong backing from both private and state affiliated funds, Daimon Robotics aims to accelerate its research, expand production and position itself at the forefront of the country’s next wave of technology innovation.
